And Find New Fords For Sale at Zeck Ford Near Oklahoma City

Classic Ford models are some of the best Ford models, but at Zeck Ford near Oklahoma City, we also love the inventory of new Fords for sale at our dealership.

And over the years, Ford Motor Company has produced some exemplary vehicles, like these top six most iconic Ford vehicles ever sold in the United States.

1. Ford Model T

We’d be remiss if we didn’t give the Ford Model T – the car that made Henry Ford famous – the top spot on our list. Known as “Tin Lizzie,” the Model T was the first affordable vehicle produced on the first assembly line.

Ford built 16.5 million vehicles between 1908 and 1927, and it was named the “most influential car of the 20th century.” Without it, modern auto manufacturing would not be the same.

The Model T was a four-cylinder, basic car that only came in black. And yet it still remains on the list of the most-sold cars of all time.

2. Ford F-150 SVT Raptor

It’s strange to think that one of Ford’s trucks is also considered one of the most sporty vehicles it’s ever manufactured: the F-150 SVT Raptor was equipped with a 6.2-liter V-8 or twin-turbo V-6.

The Raptor is also perhaps one of the most durable and regarded as the best pick-up truck ever produced by the American automaker. Despite its discontinuation, the Raptor is set to return in an aluminum body within the next model years. We’re betting it’ll fly off our lot in Purcell, Oklahoma.

3. 1965 Ford Mustang

The Mustang is perhaps the most iconic Ford of all time in general, and it remains in the line-up despite Ford’s plan to discontinue all cars.

The best Mustang ever is obviously the 1965, part of the first generation and the first “pony car.” It set the standard for all the muscle cars that came after it, including the Chevrolet Camaro, the Mustang’s most prominent competitor in the modern era. Although the Mustang has gone through several generations since then, it remains an important player in the muscle car and pony car worlds.

4. 1949 Ford Custom

In the post World War II prosperity, the 1949 Ford Custom was a popular choice and became an icon thanks to its “envelope” body. Today, it’s design is still considered a feat of modern engineering.

It remained in-demand over the years, becoming the most popular family car during the early 1950s. Ford discontinued the custom after the 1972 model year, but the 1949 is still an icon in the automotive industry during the postwar era.

5. 1955 Ford Thunderbird

The original, two-seat Thunderbird is long-regarded as the first glamorous car that Ford Motor Company produced. Its rounded body and white-wall tires made a bold statement in mid-century America.

The two-seater was manufactured between 1955 and 1957, with a total of 53,166 produced. A four-seater version came out later, but it was never so popular as the original T-Bird.

6. 1986 Ford Taurus

There is nothing particularly fashionable or interesting about the 1980s debut of the Ford Taurus; no one collects them, and it isn’t particularly sought-after anymore. You won’t find them getting restored in an auto body shop.

However, the 1986 Taurus was an important car to Ford Motor Company, which struggled financially in the mid-80s. The Taurus is credited with saving the auto manufacturer from bankruptcy during an era when there was growing competition from overseas car makers.

The Taurus became one of Ford’s most enduring vehicles, lasting six generations and 34 years before being discontinued in 2019.
