Smart car buyers are seeking vehicles that pull multiple duties to get the best value for their money. And with the 2022 model year now available at new car dealerships in Oklahoma, there are a few more options to choose from, including the 2022 Ford Escape.

The Escape is a phenomenal SUV choice for someone looking for a larger vehicle with lots of cargo room that still handles like a sedan. Its inviting body style, roomy back seat, and easy-entry height are three reasons it should top your list – but truthfully, there are lots of other features of the Escape that’ll make you want to buy a new car for sale today.

Truthfully, There’s Not Much New This Model Year

The only change Ford Motor Company added to the 2022 Ford Escape is three new exterior colors:

  • Atlas Blue, a royal shade on par with the old “Lightning Blue” color
  • Flight Blue, a deep, dusty navy
  • Iced Blue, so pale it reads as a silver

If exterior color isn’t important to you, you could expand your search to include a used car and perhaps save a little bit of money. But if you want the latest and greatest with a full new car warranty, you’ll want to spring for the 2022 edition.

2022 Ford Escape Safety Results

To put it simply, the new Ford Escape SUV is safe. It earned the highest marks from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named it a Top Safety Pick.

Standard safety features on the 2022 Escape include:

  • Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking

A Comfortable Interior

Come see for yourself why Escape owners love their vehicle interiors by paying a visit to a Ford dealership near you.

A spacious cabin regardless of seating position and optional cloth or genuine leather upholstery are the icing on the metaphorical cake of the Escape interior.

Behind the seats and under the hatch, you can fit about eight standard carry-on suitcases. If you fold the rear seats down, you can carry about 20 of them. Translate that to whatever cargo you carry regularly, and you’ll probably be able to fit almost anything you need inside your Escape.

In terms of infotainment systems, you’ll find a large, 8-inch touchscreen with Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system on the SE trim and up; the S trim level has a smaller radio display only.

On the higher trim levels, you’ll also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and if you buy a Titanium trim, you can listen to your favorite music or podcasts on a 10-speaker premium Bang & Olufsen sound system, while using your built-in navigation on a 12.3-inch display to get where you’re going.

Engine Options on New Cars

When you buy your 2022 Ford Escape, you’ll want to take a look at all the engine options on new vehicles for sale at our Oklahoma Ford dealer so you can have your pick. Regardless, any option on the Escape is zippy and fuel efficient.

The standard engine is a 181-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder with either front- or all-wheel drive. You can upgrade to a 250-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Both are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Hybrid powertrains also are available. The first is a traditional hybrid, while the other is a plug-in, allowing you to drive solely on battery power without using gas. Both are a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with two electric motors that can achieve up to 221 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid has a 14.4kWh battery pack and can drive 37 miles on a single charge, great for in-town driving and daily commutes.

For the fuel-powered engines, expect the three-cylinder turbo with front-wheel drive to be most fuel efficient, achieving about 30 miles per gallon. The all-wheel drive version with the same engine drops to 28 miles per gallon, while the larger turbocharged engine achieves 26 miles per gallon. For the biggest bang for your buck at the pump, you’ll want the plug-in hybrid, which gets as much as 44 miles per gallon.
